Hello!

We are from Shanghai Foreign Language School, Shanghai China~ SFLSers have been concerning our planet for long and we are now part of the Roots and Shoots, the Jane Goodall Institute Shanghai.

The team was established in 2004 and now we have more than 80 students who know quite a lot about the enviroment and keep on learning and taking action. Under guidance from R&S JGI we have been learning about enviromental sciences in an extra-curriculum course. We organise visits to organic farms near the city and go bird watching at coastal wetlands. On campus we do a variety of recycle work, batteries, paper, plastic bottles and tetra bricks. From month to month we invite local activists and environmentalists to give speeches to all the students. Interacting with other R&S groups we perform short plays and orations that encourage people to take factual actions to save the planet where we live. This year we are going to grow organic vegetables on campus through which our student members will learn a cultivating way that show respect and love for our earth.

Students can never determine what happens now, but they determine what happens next. We don't blame those who act wrongly if they don't know what is right. We believe in education. We believe in advocation. We believe in action.

People's Climate March

People's Climate MarchSeptember 21st,I pull on my cap and volunteer shirt, walk to Columbus Circle Subway Station, all while simultaneously yawning. It's 7:30 in the morning. I'm already on duty. As I gaze around, I glimpse passerby in absurd and fascinating costumes. A man or a sun, a man-sun strolls along. Someone with a pointed warlock hat- not really sure what he was supposed to be.People are already here, committed to the act of defying climate change. The day progresses, my arms ache from…See More

CCD of Honey Bees

CCD of Honey BeesColony Collapse Disorder among the Honey Bees is no longer a worry of the past. It is a legitimate concern among environmentalists and researchers. Why are the colonies being lost? This is the ultimate question that must be addressed. If we ignore the increasing death of bees, we may threaten the cultivation of various foods, flowers, jeopardizing the sustenance all creatures depend on. Not only to honey bees make honey, but they pollinate fruits, vegetables, and various…See More
